Extension to D1 Community Use
We prepared a Planning Statement to deliver a strong case when applying for permission to extend an Islamic Centre in Croydon, London
The Brief
We were approached by an architect to help prepare a Planning Statement in support of an application for the expansion of an Islamic Centre in Croydon. The development sought to provide additional accommodation for the resident Imam by extending and altering the existing building.
Our Solution
We used our expert knowledge of the London Plan, the National Planning Policy Framework and Croydon’s Local Plan to create a Planning Statement, which outlined arguments in favour of the scheme.
Atlas Planning Group undertook a character area assessment to demonstrate that the extension would not impact the character of the area. We also checked over all the submitted documents to ensure no issues would arise during the course of the application, such as overlooking looking windows.
Project Success
Following our assessment, it was clear that proposed development was in complete accordance with all relevant policies and so the planning balance was firmly in favour of granting permission for the proposed development. The Planning Officer accepted our arguments and the application was approved without delay.
