Listed Building Consent Application for a Grade II Listed Townhouse

Resolving Heritage Concerns on a Grade II Listed Building

Building Consent Application for Grade II Listed Townhouse

The Brief

We were instructed by our clients to submit a Listed Building Consent application for works to a Grade II Listed townhouse in Eton. The property was sited within Eton Conservation Area and formed part of a varied terrace of buildings along the High Street. The building was of early 18th century date, although it had a 19th century shop front.

Our Solution

In accordance with paragraph 189 of the NPPF, we assessed the significance of the heritage asset and the contribution it made to the Eton Conservation Area. We examined historic maps and the site’s planning history to ensure that the proposals did not affect the historic and architectural interest of the building.

Our findings were set out in a Heritage Statement, which also examined the proposals against local policy, the NPPF and the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.
